Catherine Ann and Parker

May 11th, 2012

Well, it’s about time for another blog post….and what a better way to kick off than with Catherine Ann and Parker Davis’ lovely engagement session and wedding. Their wedding has been featured on the Wedding Post of Mississippi and will be in an upcoming edition of Town & Gown. An artist and visionary, Catherine Ann styled her engagement session. What a fun afternoon at the family cabin.

Laura and Thomas and the Giant Persimmon Orchard

April 4th, 2012

Not long ago, in a land not too far away, we had the privilege to photograph Laura and Thomas. I had been dying to shoot in a persimmon farm ever since I saw the Ruche Look Book for the Spring of 2011. After searching high and low, we found Reese Orchard in Starkville, MS. The owner, David Reese, was so accommodating, and we fell in love with the place! Laura and Thomas just tied the knot a couple of weeks ago, and their images will be up soon. In the meantime, please enjoy a few of their engagement photos.

Charlottesville, VA Wedding Photographers-Susannah and Woodson

February 1st, 2012

Here’s a leap to a Fall wedding. Susannah and Woodson were married at King Family Vineyards in Charlottesville, VA. All I can say is “wow”. They couldn’t have picked a more scenic spot for their destination wedding. We battled (or I should say the veil and hair battled) with the wind a bit, but other than that, the day was perfect. How fun it was to watch the groomsmen dig up and share a bottle of whiskey that had been buried by Woodson’s mom next to the stables, or to watch Bob Gregory (bride’s father) dance the night away. Kennon Ibbeken managed the events of the day, while catering was by Harvest Moon Catering. The stunning florals were by the creative people Floral Images Design Studio. Susannah’s as well as the wedding party’s makeup was by Stephanie Parker, while hair was styled by Larry Davis. I hope I haven’t left anyone out. It takes a village to make a day so magical and flawless.

Jackson, MS Wedding Photographers-Lauren and Thomas

February 1st, 2012

You may remember the lovely Dr. Lauren from her beautiful bridal portraits. Well, she was equally as stunning the day of her (August) Jackson, MS wedding even though the temps soared. We were so privileged to get to know them a bit during their engagement session. Dr. Lauren and Dr. Thomas are 2 very smart, and very much in love human beings. If you can’t tell, I was in love with the blue car that carted them from place to place. The fabulous Kendall Poole planned this entire event. She’s amazing to work with. If you’re planning a wedding, you should definitely check out her site!

Tupelo, MS Wedding Photographers-Hart and Chad

January 31st, 2012

Hart and Chad married on quite possibly the hottest day of the Mississippi summer last year. Don’t even think for a second that the humidity stopped them or their 35 member wedding party from having a BLAST. In fact, they literally danced from the church to the reception site, which was about 1/2 mile away. I have never seen a bride or groom enjoy every second, and every detail the way that Hart and Chad did. I will never forget Chad told me that he wish that he could live that day forever. And, I should probably mention that Chad is a track superstar, which would explain the running photo. Ok. I’m about to go overboard on some flower images, but this was the debut of Kevin Knight of Downtown Floral & Company in Fulton, MS. Maybe because peonies are my #1, top favorite flowers of all time, but I HEART these simple, yet CLASSY arrangements! Reception was at the stately Goodlett Manor in Tupelo, MS. And, of course, none of this could be possible without the rentals from Busylad.

Kosciusko, MS Wedding Photographers – Anna and Adam

January 30th, 2012

We had the privilege to photograph Anna and Adam’s wedding last May. Every last detail was frosted with vintage details beginning with the dress that was originally worn by Anna’s grandmother. The vintage, timeless theme was carried through the reception with family heirloom teacups. What an incredible day, what an incredible color palette! Lick your lips, girls, on those coral dresses! Reception catering and decor by Rebecca Lawrence Design Group. The wonderful, custom tailoring of the dress by The Ashford Collection.

Paige and Keith

January 27th, 2012

The Blog Marathon continues. Enjoy another Spring wedding. I will have to say that Paige and Keith top my charts as having some of my favorite Family Photos. Paige told me long before the wedding day that she wanted to family photos not to be too formal, but to reflect their relationships. Since the wedding, they have become dear friends. I am thrilled to share a few of my favorite images with you.

Allie & Louis

January 27th, 2012

Well, it’s certainly been a while since I’ve had a chance to blog. I thought I’d start a blog marathon by going backwards a bit until I catch up. Enjoy a “new” post from Allie and Louis’ spring wedding. These two are some of the most photogenic people! Louis was such an “on-board” groom, and Allie is drop-dead gorgeous, so it made my job easy to get some awesome shots of the two of them. It was the most perfect day as well. I think I’m getting Spring-Fever just looking at these.

Mary and John’s Engagement Session- Taylor and Oxford, MS

September 21st, 2011

The wait is over! I just finished editing the very fun and colorful images from Mary and John’s Engagement Session. These images are a result of much planning, including our first ever inspiration board. (You can check out their insp board right below this post.) I would like to thank Catherine Ann Herrington for coming along to style the shoot!

Inspiration Wednesday!

September 14th, 2011

For each engagement session, we find that there are common challenges-what to wear, where to go, should we use props? Then we are challenged to take those elements to create a unique story about each couple. I usually clip a page from a magazine as a jumping off point, to get some inspiration flowing. For Catherine Ann’s upcoming Lake (engagement) session in October, I sent her an inspiration photo that I loved. She mentioned that she would add that to her inspiration board that she was creating. That conversation was the catalyst for something new for us! I begin to wonder how easy it would be for our clients to figure out clothing, props, etc. if they had their very own inspiration board. So, Catherine Ann and I met over coffee to discuss, then the two of us met with our first “subject”-Mary Smothers. It didn’t hurt that Mary is quite the creative herself. She brought photos of things she was already thinking about-including a photo of John’s awesome green Chevy. So, drum roll please….I am so excited to publish my first custom inspiration board created by designer Catherine Ann Herrington. The actual engagement session is scheduled to happen later this week, but I just couldn’t wait to share!
